If you start your own recovery Sharjah service business and keep it a one-man job or turn it into a fleet of trailers, you can become your own boss and work for yourself. You can buy a new or used trailer, or you can use a trailer that you can pull behind your truck or SUV. Trailers give you plenty of room to put a nice logo on your trailer so customers can see you when you’re out and about with your trailer and take down your phone number or website details.
Most towing services charge a one-off fee or hitching fee and then a separate towing fee per mile. You should ask around and call a few towing companies to see how much they charge to tow your car from point A to point B. You can advertise in the local newspaper and you should make a flyer and send it to all the petrol stations in the area you want to work. Send the flyer to local taxi drivers because they have a lot of customers whose cars break down.
If someone’s car breaks down, they usually go to the nearest petrol station. Most of the petrol stations of yesterday, where you could walk up to the pump and the pump attendant would come out and fill up your car, check the oil, clean the windscreen and even check the tyre pressure before sending you on your way, are now long gone. Most petrol stations now seem to sell only petrol and snacks from fast food outlets. There are still old-fashioned petrol stations, of course, but most have disappeared in favour of convenience stations.
If someone has a breakdown and goes to the nearest petrol station, the staff can give them your phone number if they have your leaflet. The same goes for taxi drivers. If someone’s car breaks down, they can temporarily use a taxi to take their place. Usually they have to tow the car to a dealer or mechanic for eventual repair. Car rental companies can also bring you some new customers if you give them some flyers. When someone’s car breaks down, they may need to rent a car until their car is fixed, which may mean needing a tow truck, and they can call you, just like they call everyone else.
If you can get a towing contract from the city or the police and get it, this will soon make you a great towing company. The police tow cars every day and many owners are arrested or not allowed to drive their cars. They call a towing company that has a contract with the municipality and they come and tow the car back to their warehouse. The towing companies make a fortune because they make their customers pay for the towing and often charge high daily storage fees to store your car until you eventually come to pick it up. Some people don’t come and pick up their car at all. In such cases, the towing company usually gets a new title for the car and sells it at auction along with other cars to make more money.
